“INVENTED SPACES,” Work Space, 96 Spring Street, (212) 219-2790 (through Feb. 10). Five artists play with architecture. Using photographs, video, mirrors and structural steel, Susan Leopold creates a kaleidoscopic view of a school stairwell; the shadow of an elf revolves mysteriously under Emily Feinstein’s stairs; Stephen Sollins’s plastic-laminated dividing lines cut from newspaper real estate advertisements suggest office building facades; a small, primitivistic but intricately built house by Barbara Andrus evokes South Pacific fantasies; and Drew Shiflett layers grids of paper, fabric and wood (Johnson).
