Two Exhibits At Drawing Room

“Drew Shiflettt: Constructed Drawings” and a group show will open at the Drawing Room Gallery in East Hampton tomorrow. They will be on view through May 23.

Awarded top honors by Jodi Hauptman in the 71st Annual Artist Members Exhibition at Guild Hall in May of last year, Ms. Shiflett lives part time in East Hampton. She studied at the Hoffberger School of Painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art, and has had solo shows at several New York City galleries and at the Islip Art Museum.

The artist’s intricate drawings, some up to seven feet wide, incorporate watercolor, ink, graphite, and woven elements of handmade papers. “Embracing a practice that requires her work to evolve slowly, Shiflett produces textured abstractions remarkable for both their tactile presence and enduring resonance,” a release said.

The group show will include drawings, paintings sculpture, and photographs by Stephen Antonakos, Caio Fonseca, Bryan Hunt, Laurie Lambrecht, Costantino Nivola, Raja Ram Sharma, and Jack Youngerman.
